Prepare to feel repulsed if you are not a big-4 American sports fan, as this year’s world’s 61 most valuable professional sports markets list is 66% American, and 77% North American. The remaining 14 cities are all European and host at least one world renowned soccer club in one of the big-5 European leagues.

  1. USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ – 40
  2. Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – 7
  3. England ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ – 5
  4. Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น – 3
  5. Spain ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ – 2
  6. Germany ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช – 2
  7. France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท – 2

NFL Domination

Toronto (21) is by far the highest North American market on the list without an NFL franchise, with the next closest bunch being Portland (39), St. Louis (40), Orlando (41), Salt Lake City (42), Sacramento (43), San Antonio (44), and Oklahoma City (45), all homes to relatively large NBA franchises, and then a top-10 baseball market in the world in St. Louis.

London Surprise

I’m sure a lot of people would assume London would be on top of this list, and considering they currently house 35% (7/20) of the 3rd biggest sports league (English Premier League) in the world by revenue, it’s incredibly surprising to find London just outside of the top 10, at 11th and below the likes of Miami, Houston and Washington, D.C.. Yet to add perspective, Washington’s D.C. United of the MLS is valued higher than 4 of London’s teams in the world’s top soccer league.

World Sports Market Rankings

All teams not included are due to their valuation having no impact to the city’s listed position, including NPB, XFL, CFL, WNBA, IPL, AFL, CBL, EFL and unmentioned soccer, cricket, rugby, racing clubs etc..
