Today Sony’s San Diego Studio Announced the MLB The Show 2024 cover athlete and it is none other than Toronto Blue Jays star first basemen Vladimir Guerrero Jr..

The cover takes inspiration from a lot of Vladdy’s biggest things in his life. The maple leaf represents Canada where he was born and playing for the only Canadian team in the MLB. The Dominican Republic flag shows his connection to his home. The music notes hint to his love for music and the impact that music has on baseball, much like last year’s Jazz theme. As well as his Home Run Derby trophy which he won last season.
Vladdy being the cover athlete came as a surprise to many people. More widely expected covers would have been Ronald Acuna Jr. or Jose Ramirez. Overall the cover is very clean and brings lots of people to the game with more fans from the D.R and Canada, as well as people who just love baseball and the swag that Vladdy has.
