Buffalo Bills’ superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ future with the squad is completely uncertain. The Bills suffered yet another heartbreaking playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, as Buffalo made a few too many errors. Diggs was hardly utilized, recording only 21 yards on 3 receptions in the AFC divisional game against KC. In fact, the 30-year-old pass-catcher tallied only 73 yards across the two postseason games Buffalo participated in. For comparison, Diggs tallied 149 yards across two playoff games in the 2022-2023 postseason.
Rough Experiences in Buffalo
Peter King of NBC Sports mentioned how the Buffalo Bills front office is expected to modify Stefon Diggs’ contract and that Diggs will “not be happy” with this move. There has been quite a bit of discourse between Stefon Diggs and the Bills throughout his tenure in Buffalo. In the Bills’ playoff matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals last year, Diggs vented his frustration on Buffalo’s sideline in a rant seemingly directed towards quarterback Josh Allen. With the addition of another playoff loss, Diggs has to wonder how much more he can take.
The Bills WR1 saw his targets and receptions decrease after Buffalo’s Week 6 victory against the New York Giants. Including the playoffs, Diggs hasn’t tallied a 100-yard game since that Week 6 matchup against the G-Men. Before Buffalo’s Week 15 game against the Dallas Cowboys, Diggs was asked about his lack of usage. Diggs responded, “It’s frustrating.” The lack of usage, lack of postseason success, and the possible modifications to his contract could make Diggs a very disgruntled receiver for the Bills.
The Future is Unwritten
Overall, Stefon Diggs is a competitor and wants to win. In Diggs’ tenure with the Buffalo Bills, they have never managed to get over the hump and the result is visible frustration from Buffalo’s #1 pass-catcher. Stefon’s brother, Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs, already made his perspective clear, saying in a tweet that “Man 14 Gotta get up outta there.” With the amount of discourse surrounding Diggs and the Bills organization, it is intriguing to see how the situation is handled in the offseason.
