Real Madrid are set to continue their spending spree. The Spanish Press has reported that despite Borussia Dortmund’s English central midfielder Jude Bellingham being Los Blancos primary target at the moment. They have continued to closely monitor Bayern Munich’s star Canadian left back Alphonso Davies.

Davies has been a revelation for both club and country. Ushering Canada to an entirely new and improved class of soccer. Simultaneously providing a decent case to be the best left back in the world at the club level with Bayern.

With his contract not set to expire until 2025, Real would likely be asked to pay a large transfer fee. An idea they may not be so opposed to. Having an influx of money from winning last years Champions League final and La Liga. As well as the lack of depth at the left back position for the Spanish giants. Recently Real have used a rotation of center backs to support Ferland Mendy on the left on off days. With that being said, left back is arguably the weakest position in the starting XI for Madrid as well.

Mendy was the reason for Madrid’s only conceded goal in this years Champions league in a 1-1 draw to FC Shakhtar Donetsk. The Real left back failed to head away a sloppy cross towards the back post which was nodded in to give Shakhtar the lead at the end of the first half.

With the recent addition of Antonio Rudiger, Real have looked very solid at the back. Joining a group of hard nosed center backs including David Alaba and Éder Militão. Davies’ attacking prowess and dominance down the left flank would attribute the unit perfectly.

Alphonso Davies will also benefit from the incredible pace and skill of Real’s superstar Vinicius Jr., who dominates the left wing. Having the overwhelming speed and class of both Vini and Phonzy on the left side could become devastating to any unfortunate right backs they encounter.
