Toronto takes on Boston
On March 20th, PWHL Toronto hosted Boston at Mattamy Athletic Centre. As the fans filled the venue, the game took off to a rocky start with Boston leading 1-0 at the end of the first period after scoring a power play goal to secure their lead. Within the duration of the second period, despite Toronto’s efforts, they still came up short going into the third, still down one. The team only had nine shots on net while arriving towards the beginning of the third period.
However, defender Renata Fast managed to put one in, thanks to a shot that flew through heavy traffic in front of Boston’s net. This was her second goal of the season. After Fast tied the game up 1-1, minutes later, star forward and leading goalscorer within the league, Natalie Spooner scored Toronto’s second goal of the night on the power play. Spooner’s shot flew over the glove of Boston’s goaltender. Regardless of Boston’s final attempts, Toronto goaltender, Erica Howe, held out for Toronto to take the win.
