The Philadelphia Phillies used a 6-run 3rd inning and a 3-run 7th to defeat the Atlanta Braves 9-1 and take a 2-1 series lead after game 3 of the National League Division Series. Philadelphia was able to knock Braves starter Spencer Strider out of the contest after just 2 and 1/3 innings, and 5 earned runs.

Philadelphia’s win was punctuated with absolute bombs from Rhys Hoskins and Bryce Harper. It will be interesting to see if they can carry this momentum into game 4 to finish off the Braves against Charlie Morton. Morton has yet to appear these playoffs, but fostered a 4.34 regular season earned run average. Career wise Morton has faired well in the post season and is 7-4 with a 3.35 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 17 outings.

The win was the first post season contest won by the Phillies at home since October 1st, 2011. 11 long years the Philly faithful have awaited the taste of victory in October.

Tomorrow, October 15th the battle continues at Citizens Bank Park in south Philadelphia.
