With the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and Miami Dolphins all on bye, many fantasy owners are scrambling to find quality options to play for Week 10. Here are some of the possible beneficial starts for Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season:
Cade Otton, Buccaneers:
Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has been one of the hottest players in fantasy football. At a position like tight end where there aren’t many quality options, Otton has generated lots of interest from many fantasy players. The young tight end has been targeted at least 6 times in his last 3 contests, averaging 13.6 fantasy points (full PPR) over that stretch. Otton is coming off of a 23.00 fantasy point game where he recorded 6 receptions, 70 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. The relationship with Baker Mayfield will only grow, making Otton a wise start for fantasy owners that need a solid tight end.
Riley Patterson, Lions:
With Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn likely being out for his next couple matchups, many fantasy owners are scrambling to find a reliable kicker. Riley Patterson is the answer to all of their troubles! Patterson is coming off of a 17.00 fantasy point game from Monday night against the Raiders. The Detroit Lions offence is near the bottom when it comes to scoring touchdowns in the red zone. The Lions have been forced to settle for field goals more than they did last year, which means more points for Patterson.
Will Levis + DeAndre Hopkins, Titans:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a rather intriguing defence. They are top 10 in rushing yards allowed per game, but they are bottom five in the NFL in terms of passing yards allowed per game. The Bucs are also giving up the 2nd most fantasy points to quarterbacks in 2023. After rookie phenom C.J. Stroud threw for 470 yards and 5 touchdowns against Tampa’s secondary, we could definitely see both Levis and DHop having outstanding performances in just their third game together. Levis and Hopkins combined for 63.42 fantasy points just two weeks ago in week 8 against Atlanta.
Jonathan Mingo, Panthers:
The rookie wide receiver out of Ole Miss has had an interesting start to the year. He’s averaging 10 yards per reception and has only recorded a game with 10+ fantasy points once. However, he’s been targeted at least 4 times in 6 out of the 7 games he’s played in. Plus, WR2 D.J. Chark Jr. has been listed as doubtful for Thursday night’s game against the Bears. With veteran Adam Thielen likely receiving most of the attention from Chicago’s secondary, it is plausible that Mingo finally has that breakout game that Panthers fans have been waiting for.
Donald Parham Jr., Chargers:
Tight end Donald Parham Jr. is widely considered as the Chargers’ biggest threat in the red zone. The 6’6” pass-catcher has had 13 receptions in 2023, with 4 of them being for touchdowns. The Detroit Lions defence is very weak when it comes to keeping teams from scoring in the red zone. This seems like the perfect matchup for Parham Jr. and he can be a solid option for fantasy owners who need a tight end. In each game that Parham Jr. has caught a touchdown, he’s gone over 10 fantasy points. If Cade Otton has already been picked up, then Donald Parham Jr. might be the way to go.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks:
The 20th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is starting to show some positive signs for fantasy owners. Smith-Njigba has been targeted at least 4 times in 7 out of the last 8 games he’s participated in. In his last 4 games, the young wideout is averaging 12.50 fantasy points, catching a pair of touchdowns in that stretch. Smith-Njigba is coming off a week where he caught 6 passes for 63 yards. His matchup in week 10 is very favourable, with the Washington Commanders giving up the 4th most fantasy points to wide receivers in 2023. On most teams, Smith-Njigba can be a solid fantasy option, especially with many elite wide receivers on bye (Tyreek Hill, Cooper Kupp, etc.).
Brandon McManus, Jaguars:
If Riley Patterson is unavailable for Week 10, Brandon McManus can be another solid option. The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently 6-2, but they are actually one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to scoring touchdowns in the red zone. Like I said with Riley Patterson, less touchdowns in the red zone equals more field goal attempts and fantasy points for McManus. The San Francisco 49ers are giving up the 13th most fantasy points to kickers in the NFL, which is a relatively decent matchup.
