According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet on “X”), the Denver Broncos have traded wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns for 2024 5th and 6th round picks. After the trade with Cleveland, Denver will now possess 9 draft picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, the Browns get a much-needed weapon offensively to add to a lackluster receiving core outside of WR Amari Cooper and TE David Njoku. Jeudy will likely be battling ex-Jet Elijah Moore for the WR2 spot prior to the 2024-2025 NFL season.

Jerry Jeudy’s Poor 2023-2024 Campaign

Jerry Jeudy had a disappointing year in 2023, falling short yet again of that elusive 1,000 yard mark. The 4th-year receiver finished 2023 with 54 receptions, 754 yards, and 2 TDs. Jeudy was also given a mediocre 67.8 overall PFF grade after his dissatisfying 2023 campaign. With the Broncos already announcing their eventual release of QB Russell Wilson, the writing was on the wall that Jeudy would be next.

Less Draft Capital, More NFL Ready Players

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns will only have 5 draft picks in the 2024 Draft after this deal is done, assuming no more moves occur. However, after a surprisingly effective season in 2023 along with a playoff appearance, things may be looking up for Cleveland. Adding another weapon to the mix should open the playbook right up for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Perhaps Jerry Jeudy can finally see some playoff action in 2024, something he never experienced in his 4 years with Denver.

Wrapping Things Up

Overall, the trade is looking rather even at this point in time. The Cleveland Browns add a weapon to an up-and-coming offence that can take some of the heat off of Amari Cooper. On the flip side, the Denver Broncos free some cap space while also gaining some late-round picks that can hopefully transfer into consistent NFL talent. 2024 can definitely be the year that Jerry Jeudy silences Steve Smith Sr. (and other doubters) and finally breaks out with Deshaun Watson.
